I am a PhD student at the University of Algarve, and I’ve always had a passion for the natural world and sciences. My journey in science is driven by my innate curiosity for nature and understanding the world around us.
Exploring the wonders of Development
Within the vast space of science, my academic focus is currently on the field of developmental biology. During development, a single cell gives rise to a fully functional organism through many processes that need to occur coordinated in Time and Space. I am particularly driven towards how these processes are regulated with proper timing, as cells don’t possess clocks, unless they actually do…
The significance of outreach
In addition to my academic pursuits, I value the importance of science outreach and bringing science and knowledge closer to communities. Knowledge is power, and combined with critical thinking these are very useful allies in navigating our world, where misinformation is spreading at alarming rates. This is one of the reasons I am very happy to be member of the Pattern Institute, which is also dedicated to making science more accessible to everyone.
A glimpse into my personal interests
I love to explore and learn new things, think and discuss ideas with my friends and peers. I love outdoor activities, particularly if those involve water. Exploring Japan, my current residence, has become one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy photography, even if my skill is questionable, particularly at sunset or night settings.
