Scientific software
Software developed by the Pattern Institute is released under its own license terms, which are specified in the corresponding source code repositories or documentation.
In general, we adopt permissive open-source licenses (such as MIT or Apache 2.0) that support transparency, reproducibility, and community reuse in scientific research. These licenses allow for modification and redistribution, provided the original license terms are respected.
We encourage contributions and collaboration, and our software is typically hosted on platforms such as GitHub for public access. For details on a specific project’s licensing terms, please refer to its individual repository.
Scientific data
Scientific datasets shared by the Pattern Institute are, unless otherwise stated, made available under open data principles, aligned with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data standards.
Where possible, data is released under permissive licenses such as CC BY 4.0, which allow for reuse with appropriate attribution. Any restrictions due to ethical, privacy, or third-party agreements will be clearly documented in the associated metadata or landing pages.
Our goal is to advance open science by making high-quality research data accessible to the wider community, while maintaining responsible data stewardship.
