David Paleček

Physicist by formation, scientist by soul. I practiced ultrafast laser physics for photosynthetic light-harvesting (Lund), photocatalytic water-splitting (Zurich) and organic optoelectronics (Cambridge). Recently I switched to imaging and image processing, even more recently to metagenomics.

I am passionate (or worried) about fostering tech transfer and community-driven innovation through hackathons and educational initiatives made in an open and inclusive way to help academia progress. When I can, I go climbing.

Python Club

I maintain a free and open community for Python programming and beyond. Our approach supports group and project-based learning to accommodate various levels of programming proficiency. In addition, I also provide teaching assistance as needed.

Check out the Python Club for more details.

Python for Life Sciences

Together with Paulo Martel, we introduce computational thinking using Python and lay the foundations of control flows with a focus on working with data, including loading, wrangling, visualising and analysing in an automated way. By the end of the week, you should be able to develop your own ideas independently.
